This last weekend I hosted a baby shower for one of my best friends. She's having a little girl.
When I started trying to nail her down on a color scheme or theme for the baby room, she told me "oh, I don't know... I was thinking maybe mauve and brown and cream and maybe some sage green for contrast... and nothing too babyish. I want it to look old-fashioned."
My mom had picked these out for me on her own and when I saw them I knew they'd be perfect. I just tried to keep the pattern as simple as possible.
I used an all-over meandering quilt pattern to soften the look of all those squares...
Here's the label... sorry for all the "blur."
I based the name off of the colors of the fabrics rather than the fabric patterns.
I hope it will keep her baby warm and bring her comfort.

The quilt is beautiful, she is a lucky friend!
You are a blessing of a friend! How preciously cozy. I hope that it gets used and used and snuggled and is wrapped around that baby girl!
So lovely! What a great gift!
What a beautiful quilt! Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of us.
The quilt is stunning. What a wonderful gift. I know she will cherish it forever. Hugs, Marty
Very pretty quilt!
You pegged this one - everything is perfect and am sure she will love it.
GORGEOUS!! Love the border pattern and love the underside. Oh my goodness, that little girl baby will have this for years and years to come and she will treasure it. You are a wonderful friend, making this! It's such a wonderful gift, made from the heart!
Best,
Gloria
What a beautiful quilt! I haven't quilted in a few years and not since getting my machine (after 15 years as a strictly hand-sewer & quilter, I finally gave in to modern conveniences!) - do you have any links for good advice on making the transition from hand-quilting to machine-quilting?
I must be going crazy, because I thought I came by here and left a comment for you on this beautiful quilt! And I see it is not here. I could have sworn that I wrote how beautiful it is, and this little girl will love this quilt for many years to come. You did a very loving, fantastic job, Cecily!
Best,
Gloria
