Here's a peek at what I've been working on this weekend. It's a project I've been planning for a little while now. It's an upcycled quilt made from a bunch of onesies and t-shirts that my son has grown out of.
I took this pic while I was pinning the quilt "sandwich" together.
Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it sometime this week. I'll post more pics and details when it's done. Hope you all had a great weekend!
ADORABLE! But, Cecily, even more than that it is beautiful is the fact that this is like a little time capsule for your son (and you too!). I will BET that this will be one of his prized possessions and that he will wind up taking it one day with him to his college dorm! Seriously. One unasked for bit of advice? When you finish it, don't give it to him right away. He won't appreciate it. Wait until he is maybe 4 or 5... He will then understand that these were all of his baby clothes and he can look at the photos of him in the outfits and he will then be able to comprehend. If you give it to him now to use, he will get food, throw-up, rips, etc. in/on the quilt. BUT, of course, you might just want this to happen - to have him have it now to enjoy. Well, no matter when you give it to him, he will love it. Fantastic job.

Ohhh I love this idea! I have all of my shirts from college cut up but not cut into squares. It's a big project that needs tackling. Yours is going to be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see one of these I get so emotional. What is wrong with me?! I am planning on making one for each of my daughters, but I think I'm going to wait (a few decades) until they have a baby of their own to give them to them.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, love the way this is turning out!
I'm so jealous! I have ALWAYS wanted to do this with my kids' favorite outfits but I don't know how to sew. Some day, sigh.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
